A while ago, I needed to tweak some service settings on my desktop, and realized I didn’t know enough about the systemd-init software that now starts my operating system. So I thought: better spend a little time getting to know it better.

Unfortunately, while the systemd team produce good documentation about how to use systemd-init, there isn’t so much on the architecture and design decisions. So about four weeks of research later, I’ve produced a large article with more info about systemd-init (and init-systems in general) than anybody probably wants to know :-)
